Support your local comic book store!  Be sure to visit them today for all sorts of goodies!  To honour this day of giving sequential art to the masses I have put up a new free comic "Poems, Pratfalls & Wild Thoughts" with art by the brilliant Bob Prodor in my PREVIEW: My Modern Panic section.

Can't Save the World by Cowpuncher

One of the first comic stories I ever wrote is now the music video for a song from Cowpuncher's album Call Me When You're Single.  Art by the incomparable Fiona Staples.  The story originally appeared in Tales from the Harbor Volume One and will be a part of My Modern Panic (coming October 2012 - preview stories linked above).

Upcoming Events

I will be teaching a workshop on Writing Graphic Novels at the Calgary Young Writer's Conference on Saturday, April 21.

On April 27-29, I will be exhibiting my works during the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo at the Rosencrantz Comics table (N 09) alongside Jesse Davidge, Jason Mehmel, Chris Peterson and Nick Johnson.

Brand Spankin' New Comic Story!

My new short comic story Occupy Mind Street is up in the PREVIEW: My Modern Panic section linked above!  Featuring illustrations by Ben Leung, this was the by-product of an evening in which I found myself contemplating the Occupy Movement and the various ways we might numb ourselves from reality. 

It's also my first attempt at telling a story non-verbally, aside from the introduction by Hermes Trismegestus - who begins every story in My Modern Panic with some poetic ruminations.

Updated Education Resources

I have updated my education resource section above.  Included are free study guides for Mathemagick & Mystiphysics, Driftwood Ellesmere and The Duchess Ranch of Old John Ware.
As well, I have put up two lessons on Writing Comic Book Scripts (NEW) and the Psychological Space of Comics.

Upcoming workshops include the Calgary Teacher's Convention on February 16 and the Calgary Young Writer's Conference on April 21.

Calgary Children's Book Fair

I will be at the Calgary Children's Book Fair from 10 am - 4 pm on Saturday, November 26 at the Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Centre where local authors gather to share their work and writing methods.

This is always a fun day for young book lovers and aspiring writers!
